There were no blooms yesterday, while I was taking pictures for my Christmas Tablescape (paperwhites are in the background on our penninsula):
It's pretty, and I'm excited to wake up to more blooms.....although it would be nice to have some around Christmas!! I wonder how long each one lasts?
Anyone else out there have a bloom yet?

They look so pretty in your Milk Glass containers! I've planted them before in the past and each one will only last a few days.. I think it's best to stagger them so you have some for the whole month but oh well, enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteFirst off, your kitchen is beautiful and I am a bit jealous of the gorgeous seasonal touches! I love planting paper whites but always do so in January closer to my birthday. I do a deeper glass container and they last a while, but the growth rates definitely differ. Putting them in those dishes is so charming though! I might have to get some extras this year and switch it up. And isn't the smell to die for?!
ReplyDeleteHi Christina! Hope you are enjoying (enjoyed?) your time away!
DeleteThanks for the kind words! All of the dishes were Goodwill or thrift shop finds. Key word: cheap. :) Same goes for the wreath in the kitchen window...goodwill, $2. There were at least 20 there, and I grabbed only one. Still kicking myself over that. Anyway, I'm wanting to do something to jazz it up a bit, though.
I actually can't smell anything yet?!?!?! I don't know, maybe b/c only one is blooming....Glad to know you can plant them later. I have 5 bulbs left that I might plant later in the month!
sweet! so glad to see yours have pushed their way up and out of dirt a bit too. wondering if I did something wrong when mine started doing that.

yeah, i thought that was weird at first...but I think they just dug right in and took root!
DeleteI love planting paper whites and did about 10 containers this year since I give some as gifts. The growth rates do differ. Your choice of dishes for the planters is fabulous! Visiting you from Stonegable's linky party.
ReplyDeleteGiving them as gifts is a great idea. I might have to dothat next year. I actually purchased 40 bulbs when I saw them 50% off at home depot. I got home and realized there is NO WAY I would use 40. However, these planted in some thrift shop dishes would make a cheap but beautiful hostess gift or something.....I will have to remember that for next year!
DeleteSo pretty, and your kitchen is gorgeous too. Love the milkglass!
ReplyDeleteI planted some and gave them as gifts, but kept one. Mine isn't blooming yet, but almost! I'm visiting from Stonegable.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
DeleteI really want to remember to give these as gifts next year; do you put them in any particular kind of container?
Those are beautiful in your pretty kitchen. I did not grow any this year. I don't really care for the fragrance they have. They are pretty though. Popping in from Yvonne's.
ReplyDeleteI've recently learned that my husband does that like the fragrance either! I don't think I will let that stop me next year though.
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
Love paperwhites - and I planted mine exactly like you did - in vintage milk glass.
ReplyDeleteMine always bloom at different times - don't think it has anything to do with the depth.
No blooms yet - but one or two are coming soon!

Those are crazy pretty, I think it's fun that you don't know what or when! A friend gave me some planted in a silver julep cup last year and I was amazed at how fast they grew! Then I planted them in my garden and they are getting ready to bloom again. By the way, you make me want to go clean up my kitchen, yours looks so fresh and uncluttered! Beautiful. Visiting from Stone Gable,
