Peony Love

If you are tired of hearing about my love for certain plants, I'm sorry.  Maybe you should turn away now because you are about to hear - or see in this case - about my love for peonies; by far these are my favorite flower.

We have an overgrown garden full of peonies on the side of our house that was here when we moved in.  This, along with irises and lilies, are about the only landscaping that survived our arrival.  I have to keep cutting the peony blossoms so that they don't weigh down the entire plant.  It just looks sad that way.  So, last week and today I spent time cutting the stems and arranging them inside.  My puppy photo bombed the next shot.  Can you tell she loves being outside to enjoy the day?

I thought I would share the pictures of the peony arrangements from around our house.

We have three colors growing outside.  I think the deep pink is my favorite.

These flowers are gorgeous and can definitely stand alone.  Peonies were the prominent flower in my wedding bouquet (you can see it here) and were combined with roses and calla lilies.

The next few pictures I just recently shared in this post, about updating my bedroom for summer.

What is your favorite flower?  Do you grow it in your garden?

  5. I share your love for peonies. We had a bunch in our yard growing up, and for some reason I didn't like them when I was younger. Now they are my favorites! Gorgeous pictures! And don't you love the smell? Thanks so much for sharing!

  6. I also love Peonies! Our backyard neighbor has a bunch lining the fence and I always cut the ones that poke through the fence into our yard ; ) He has offered to give him some of his bushes so I think I'll take him up on that! I just wish the blooms stuck around longer! My favorite flowers are Dahlias and Poppies!

  7. Adore peonies! My grandma had them at her house and would place a gorgeous vase full of them on her dining table. That's one of the reasons I planted them in our yard and also because they smell so divine!
