Nautical 1st Birthday Party

This past weekend we celebrated my youngest son's first birthday with our family:

Here is the birthday boy; he's a happy little guy:

To plan the party, I made it easy and chose the theme and colors I used in his nursery:

I started the planning and set the theme with the invitation.  I purchased the pdf design from Etsy seller Carissa848.  She was great to work with, was open to changing the colors and font, and turned around the invitation extremely quickly.  When purchasing the electronic copy of the invitation, you can either print up the design as a photograph or have it printed on card stock.  I chose to print on card stock at home.  I purchased 50 blank cards and envelopes from Target - and reserved half for the next birthday party which is coming up soon - for $10.  The total cost to me for 25 of these customized invites was $20:

Here, the color of the invitations translated into the party decor:

I tried to keep it simple - although my husband doesn't think it was so simple and declared that he will be planning the next party - so I stuck to just papers and balloons to make our house festive.  I also included this wheel which I already had in the nursery:

We added a table for additional seating in the living room.  Believe it or not, we just don't have enough room to seat 30 adults and 10+ kids in our dining room:

The birthday boy having fun with a balloon and grandma:

I made these cake pops for the first time and they were really good.  I never heard of cake pops before planning this party but I guess they are pretty popular right now.  Where have I been?  Since our party was a nautical theme, I added little paper sails.  The blue sprinkles marked the chocolate cake pops and the yellow sprinkles marked the red velvet:

My sister-in-law makes the best chocolate cake EVER, so she has happily made birthday cakes for my sons' on their birthdays:

Here is the Mater cake she made last year, pretty amazing:
The birthday boy again, enjoying his cake:

I found a lot of the decor ideas and pinned them to my Kids Party Board on Pinterest.  Here are the links to the various sources I used for planning his birthday:

Cake Pops recipe from Divas Can Cook
Nautical Cake Pops from Anders Ruff
Nautical Life Savor decor from Craftomaniac
Paper Rosettes from Catch My Party
Nautical Invites from Etsy seller Carissa848

As always, thanks for stopping by!

    1. My husband is now obsessed with them too! They weren't too hard to make, although they don't look as professional as the ones you had!! I'll blame that on the three year old who helped me make them.... ;)

      Still SOO good, though.

  11. He's so cute! Your party decorations are perfect (especially love the napkin rings!), and I think your husband should let you do the next one for sure! My son is turning 18 next month and I have no idea what to do for it. The idea of rowdy teenagers at my house scares me!!
